Kids do not need to be perfect and parents do not need to worry about posing or timing. With over 20 years of experience photographing families across Calgary, I guide you through the session so it feels natural and fun while capturing the moments that truly reflect your family.
Family photography sessions can take place either in my studio or outdoors around Calgary. My studio is always ready for family fun and works beautifully for relaxed portraits, especially during colder months. Outdoor sessions are also a wonderful option and allow us to capture natural moments in some of Calgary’s beautiful parks and green spaces.
The best outfits are ones that feel comfortable and reflect your family’s personality. I usually recommend coordinating colours rather than matching exactly. Soft neutral tones, simple patterns, and layers tend to photograph beautifully. Once your session is booked I’m always happy to offer suggestions to help you feel confident and prepared.
This is one of the most common concerns parents have, and it is completely normal. Kids are kids, and that is part of the fun. With over 20 years of experience photographing families, I keep sessions relaxed and playful so children feel comfortable. Some of the best photos come from those natural in between moments.
Most family sessions are designed to be relaxed and enjoyable while keeping things moving so kids stay engaged. Sessions are usually around 30 to 60 minutes depending on the location and the type of session.
For outdoor sessions, the best light is usually in the evening before sunset or earlier in the morning. These times create beautiful soft light that photographs wonderfully. Studio sessions offer more flexibility and can be scheduled at many different times throughout the day.
I know families are excited to see their photos, so I work to deliver your images as quickly as possible. Turnaround times are typically within a short time after the session so you can start enjoying and sharing your photos right away.
Yes, extended family sessions are always welcome. These are wonderful opportunities to capture multiple generations together. If you are planning an extended family session, we can discuss the details ahead of time to make sure everything runs smoothly.
