Frequently Asked Questions About My Calgary Studio

If you are planning your first photography session, you probably have a few questions about what the experience will be like. Many clients arrive feeling a little nervous about being in front of the camera, but the process is designed to be relaxed, comfortable, and even fun.

As one of the Calgary professional photographers who has spent more than 20 years working with people from all walks of life, my goal is always to make the experience easy and enjoyable from start to finish. Below are some of the most common questions clients ask before visiting the studio.

Where is your photography studio located?

My studio is located in SE Calgary, making it easy for clients from across the city to visit. Parking is simple as well, with plenty of street parking available nearby.

When you arrive, you will usually find me there to greet you. I run a very personal photography business, so I enjoy meeting each client and helping them settle in before the session begins.

What is the studio atmosphere like?

The studio has a relaxed and welcoming vibe. It is well organized with private areas where clients can prepare for their session.

Many people say the space feels a little like a creative scavenger hunt. There are vintage cameras, interesting books, unique decor pieces, and even my oversized ceramic frog tucked around the studio. It gives the space personality and makes the environment feel creative rather than intimidating.

What happens when I arrive for my session?

When you arrive we usually begin with a quick conversation about the session and review any outfits or looks you have brought with you.

I recommend bringing a few clothing options whenever possible. Together we narrow things down and choose the outfits that will photograph best.

Once everything is ready, I guide you through the rest of the process step by step.

Do I need to know how to pose?

Not at all. Most people feel unsure about posing when they arrive, which is completely normal.

I demonstrate and guide the poses so you always know what to do. The goal is to keep everything natural and relaxed so the photos reflect your personality rather than feeling stiff or forced.

What happens during the photography session?

I tend to work fairly quickly during sessions, which helps keep the experience comfortable and efficient.

I also talk a lot while photographing. I ask questions and keep the conversation going so clients relax and forget they were nervous about being photographed in the first place. Many people say the chatter makes the session feel more like a conversation than a formal photo shoot.

Because of this relaxed approach, clients often settle in within the first few minutes.

How many photos will be taken?

I take lots of photos during a session, and I do not limit the number of images captured or delivered. My goal is always to create a strong variety of images so clients have many options to choose from.

When will I see my photos?

Your images are professionally edited and delivered through an online gallery. Most clients receive their photos in less than a week, although same day delivery can sometimes be arranged if needed.

Do I receive all of the photos?

Yes. Clients receive the full set of images from their session. If additional retouching is requested, I am happy to provide further edits for selected favourites.

Will I feel comfortable during the session?

Many clients arrive feeling a little nervous, but that feeling usually disappears quickly once we begin working together.

Helping people feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera is one of the most important parts of my work. When people relax and enjoy the experience, their photographs naturally reflect their personality.

That is always the goal.
